planetSnow

In the magazine "planetSnow" i talk about my home skiresort Zermatt.
Next to big names like Willy Bogner for St. Moritz / Kaj Zackrisson for Chamonix / Kevin Rolland for La Plagne or Didier Défago for Portes du Soleil

Text:
Fabian Kronig, Freestyle Pro:

Sorry that the text is in german...

Glacier 3000 Invitational

Blue bird and just a little bit wind. We had to be at the glacier at 9.
One hour training and the competition already started. The kickers where in a good shape, but all the riders had sore muscles from the last 2 days. (5 kickers in a row, and no waiting time at the lift...) :)
Whatever, we where motivated and ready for the Glacier 3000 Invitational.

Just the last 3 kickers counted. The kickers were not really big, means no switch 10. The jury looked more for style and safe landings.
I crashed on my first run. Went to far on the second kicker, landed it perfectly, but couldn`t hold the force on my legs.
On my second run, i did a switch cork 5 japan, cork 9 mute to a switch cork 7 double true tail.
I landed on the last two kickers almost on the base, and had my hands in the snow.
Wasn`t really happy with my performance..
I ended up 9th. 3th best swiss guy, just 3 points behind Andri

All in all, it were great 3 days

Glacier 3000 Invitational

We had to be at the Glacier at 9 o`clock. Weather sucked pretty bad. It snowed a little and you couldn`t see the landings from the kickers.
The jury decided to wait till 11, in the hope that the sky will clear up. And what a wonder, the sky cleared and the sun came out.
The gust of wind where still a problem, but the organization wanted to do the competition asap.
We had a good half an hour training, before the event started. With the number 21, i was almost the last rider.
19 riders had there first run, after the clouds showed up again. The wind became stronger and we. the last 5 riders, had to wait on the top, in the hope, that the weather will clear up again.
Finally! after 30 minutes freezing my ass, the jury decided to cancel it for today.
Hope for good weather tmr.
wish me good luck

Spot searching and party

Its already Saturday. Couldn`t ski the last two days. To much wind, rain, snow and whatever...
Weather sucked the last week, hope it will be better for next weeks Glacier 3000 Invitational.

I crashed from Thursday till today at Jannes place in Zweisimmen. What to do, when we can`go skiing was the big question on Friday. We drove from village to village, looking for some sick spots to shoot, when finally the snow is here.
We found some really sick rails, wall rides and kicker spots... can`t really show them to you know..

After a sauna session and some beers, we went out to play some billiard and dart. We ended up drunk in a small freaky bar in Gstaad. That's actually how we always ending, when Janne and me are going out together...
However...

As the weather forecast sad, it rained and the glacier was closed
And now im on my way to luzern, to the "Color Me" premier
next update will be soon
thx

haha :)

Shit weather in Diablerets

After Tuesday i drove back home to Zermatt. The forecast for Wednesday was crap, so i decided to chill at home, pay some bills and visit some friends.

After a nice day off, i went up early and checked the web cams from Les Diablerets. No fog, a little fresh pow pow and blue bird. I put my stuff together and hit the road at 7.30. I was stoked to go skiing and the weather looked really good on the way to the glacier. (check the pics under the text)
But as i got closer and closer to the small mountain village, the fog came up and it started to snow a little.
We couldn`t jump the kickers, because the fog and wind was to strong. So Janne Van Enkevort, Joel Mooser and me just shredded some rails for around 2 hours.
After a not really exciting ski day, we drove to Francas place, to meet up with JF Houle and Ahmet Dadali.
We had a really nice lunch and talked about our summer stuff and the upcoming season plans.
I couldn`t take more pictures, because my phone died. But i will give my best to show you some more pics and videos in the future

blue bird and no clouds at 8.30

i came closer to Diablerets and the clouds too

Almost there and the weather sucks!

First day in Diablerets

After yesterdays shooting with Movementskis, i got up early. Checked at first the weather in Diablerets, didn't` look that bad... So i decided to hit the road, to be at 10,from Zürich away, in Les Diablerets.
When i arrived there, the clouds came up and it started to snow down at the station.
You couldn't` see the kickers or even the end of a rail. So i just did some runs at the slopes to get my ski feeling back. After the 5th run and a frozen lens, i decided to go down and drive to Zermatt.
